The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.

The Council approved the 2022 fiscal year budget, following a public hearing on the topic. The proposed tax levy rate for the next fiscal year is $14.91 per $1,000 of property valuation. After another public hearing, the Council approved to sell 206 North Wilson Avenue to the Stitch for $78,000 with another $72,000 to be used with an economic development agreement that is forgivable over ten years. Following two more public hearings, the Council approved selling vacant lots at 305 East Vest Street to John and Angela Wiggins for $250 and 502 West State Street to Camden Enterprises IV for $250. The Council tabled selling 100 East State Street to next month. 

Additionally, the Council approve hiring Randy Aponte as a patrol officer with a starting salary of $47,321, an amount not to exceed $26,000 for a software upgrade from Automated Systems for the water treatment plant, a professional services agreement with Bolton and Menk for $17,100 for designs for a new city hall entrance, and a plat of survey for Gabe Karber to build a new home at Kirkwood and 230th Street. Finally, the Council set May 11th as public hearing dates to rezone lots at Reed and Cedar streets from single family residential to multi-family residential for rental units and on Clark Street from light industrial to single family residential due to a home that was recently built there by Region XII Council of Governments.
