A free service is underway once again in the City of Jefferson.

Public Works Director Dave Morlan says crews have started the summer brush chipping and yard waste pick-up. He points out that they will collect brush in armload piles, with the cut ends pointed at curbside, along with placing other yard waste into the biodegradable bags with the correct designated sticker on the bags. Morlan reviews what items won’t be picked up, if it’s not in the proper place.

“We do ask for no small piles of sticks. If it’s not (tree) limbs, it should be placed in the bag (and) no piles of sticks on the curb. We do not chip whole trees either.”

Morlan says the brush and yard waste pick-up will be the last full week of the month and on your normal garbage day. However, Morlan adds that if you missed your day for the yard waste pick-up that you can take those materials to the City’s yard waste dump site at Daubendiek Park.
