Several Guthrie County students performed well for the Iowa High School Music Association State Solo and Small Ensemble contest.

Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center Band Director Kyra Babcock tells Raccoon Valley Radio her students earned ten Division I-ratings and two Division II-ratings. Students that earned a Division I-rating meant the judge thought they gave a superior performance. Babcock was proud of her students, especially considering this year they had to submit their entries virtually but that the judging criteria remained unchanged.

Panorama band and choir had one Division I-rating, six Division II-ratings and three Division III-rating. Of those results, Band Director Jim Bauch says Ruby Hummel received the lone Division I-rating and had a perfect score from the judge for her clarinet solo. Finally, West Central Valley had one choir student that earned a Division II-rating. See the full list below of the students that competed for AC/GC.
