The West Central Valley Drama and Choir departments are preparing for this weekend’s musical.

“You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” features a small cast and senior Rylie Hutton plays Lucy and talks about the premise of the performance.

“We’re doing a day in the life of Charlie Brown. So throughout the performance you’ll see different little skits with his five other friends. I think it’s just like a fun musical. It takes a very nice step into the Peanuts world.”

Senior Gavin Dupuy plays the main character Charlie Brown, which he says he originally auditioned for the part of Snoopy.

“But when I got it, my first instinct was just to tell my parents. It seems kind of lame but I was like, ‘Oh my God I got Charlie Brown,’ and I did not expect that. I was pretty much shocked at first because I didn’t really expect to (get Charlie Brown). But now that I’ve worked on it, it’s fitting.”

The performances will be at 7pm Friday and Saturday at the high school gym. The shows are open to the public and tickets are $6 each. Attendees must wear a mask and observe proper social distancing.
