Greene County High School had several students that performed well for this year’s Iowa High School Music Association Solo and Small Ensemble contest.

Band Director Wes Anderson says Ethan Long earned a Division I-rating for his piano solo and was named outstanding performer for his center. Long received a perfect score for his solo. Anderson adds, one additional student received a Division II-rating for their flute solo.

Choir Director David Heupel says Clay Peters, Olivia Hoyt and the Madrigal jazz choir ensemble received Division I-ratings. Additionally, Avery Bardole, Brianna Blasnitz, Hannah Curtis, Autumn Villebro and Stephen Blasnitz each earned Division II-ratings.  

The contest was done differently this year, as all entries were submitted virtually due to the pandemic not allowing the event to be held in person.
