At the most recent Perry City Council meeting, the Council approved studies aiming to improve traffic signals.
Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson says the City is always paying attention to traffic patterns and issues that arise around town. There are three specific intersections the studies will focus on, including around the high school and middle school, and signals at Willis Avenue and 8th Street.
“Both of those really looking at the morning, afternoon, (and) event, activity, times traffic patterns and traffic density in those intersections and also just you know being from Perry we’ve all tried to get onto Willis in the morning or afternoon when it’s busy at 18th Street or 8th Street and it can be kind of dangerous and difficult to get out on those roads.”
Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the big portion of the study will look at improving the signal heads at Highway 141 and 1st Street which is sort of the final phase of the 1st Street project.
“Really just again looking at the overall safety and efficiency of those intersections trying to get people through in an efficient and effective manner.”
Peterson says changes may be coming in the future as the City is completing the initial necessary studies.
