A Dallas Center man is in the Dallas County Jail after allegedly leading law enforcement on a chase in an Iowa State Patrol (ISP) vehicle.
Iowa State Patrol Sergeant Alex Dinkla tells Raccoon Valley Radio, Brandon Eugene Doerring, 31, of Dallas Center was arrested and charged with Class D Felonies for eluding, assault with intent to injure, and theft of a motor vehicle, and misdemeanors for possession of drug paraphernalia, first degree theft pocket picking, reckless driving, driving while license denied, suspended or revoked, operating while intoxicated, speeding and possession of a controlled substance.
Dinkla says at roughly 1 p.m. Tuesday a state trooper was checking on a vehicle at the 104 mile marker of U.S. Interstate 80 in Dallas County and saw someone walking down the road. Dinkla says the trooper caught up with Doerring who was then patted down and drug items were located.
Dinkla says Doerring was then placed in handcuffs and put into the patrol vehicle. While the trooper investigated the vehicle Doerring allegedly was able to take control of the trooper vehicle and lead law enforcement on a chase that ended in northeast Madison County.
There were no injuries reported during the incident and Doerring was apprehended and taken to the Dallas County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
