A Grand Junction woman faces a felony charge for a Monday incident.
According to court documents, a Greene County Deputy responded to a call at 6:11am on Monday to a residence in the 200 block of Hager Street. The homeowner claimed 34-year-old Candice Ortiz entered their home holding a knife saying her nieces were at the home. The deputy saw Ortiz walk out of the home and questioned her about the knife, which she denied possessing. She did admit to taking a pair of shoes from the home.
As the investigation continued and Ortiz was being arrested, she was non-compliant. Once she was apprehended, Ortiz was charged with a Class B Felony for first degree burglary and simple misdemeanors for fifth degree theft and fifth degree criminal mischief. She was booked and remains in the Greene County Jail under a $5,000 cash or surety bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
