The Adair County Health System (ACHS), after guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Food and Drug Administration, have paused Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccinations.

The ACHS followed the guidance of the CDC and FDA and paused clinics and cancelled appointments for the Johnson and Johnson vaccine this week. They are still making appointments for the Moderna vaccine with hopes to resume those next week.

The CDC and FDA said of the more than 6.8 million doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccine administered there were six reported cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot and all cases were among women ages 18 to 48.
