State Climatologist Justin Gilson is predicting nice weather for Iowa during the spring season.
Gilson stated that April, May, and June is a la nina pattern that gives a better chance for weather conditions in the Ohio Valley and through the Pacific Northwest.
Gilson gave us his thoughts on Iowa’s spring severe weather. “We are not anticipating a severe thunderstorm warning for the state of Iowa but this is a pattern they will start to look at as we get into the warmer season.”
Gilson also mentioned The Great Planes are more dry. Iowa is right on the interface of that. When there is a dryer pattern that suggests there is less thunderstorm activity and Iowa is less likely to have severe thunderstorm threats including tornadoes and tornado outbreaks.
