The Jefferson City Council approved the date and time for a public hearing on the maximum tax levy at a special meeting Tuesday. 

The Council set the date and time for public hearing of 5:30 p.m. April 13th in the City Hall Council Chambers. The Council also approved a letter of intent of an endorsement for a project to rehabilitate middle school property. 

The endorsement does not bind the City of Jefferson to any financial consideration at this time. The developers for the project are planning to acquire the old middle school building to turn into apartments which is a $6 million project. 

The letter of intent allows for the developer to apply for a $1 million loan from the Iowa Finance Authority.
