After opening the boys’ soccer season with two games in Perry on Saturday, the Greene County boys’ soccer team plays tonight at Humboldt for their third contest in three days. Humboldt will be playing their season opener.

Coach Carl Behne’s Rams went 1-1 at Perry after playing both Perry and Des Moines North to 2-2 scores at the end of regulation. Both went to penalty kicks with the Rams winning vs. Perry 3-2 on five PK’s to four. DM North had four PK’s to two for the Rams in another 3-2 contest.

Coach Behne watched his team play back-to-back PK matches vs. two larger schools with more tradition and history than the Rams, who are in just their third season of their own soccer program after the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out all Iowa high school sports in 2020. Overall, the coach was pleased with Saturday’s performances, and is looking forward to the match vs. the Wildcats.

Greene County will be at home for six playing dates in a row after the trip to Humboldt.
