An organization in Jefferson is a recipient of a state grant to continue to beautify the community.

Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community was awarded free paint through the Diamond Vogel and Keep Iowa Beautiful’s Paint Iowa Beautiful grant. Tower View Team Chair Deb McGinn says the free paint will be used for the “Back Alley Project.”

“On the north side, on the back of (Jefferson) Iowa Realty’s building. Tower View Team is in the process of getting that design finalized for the back of that. We’ll be painting that ourselves. This will be a series of colorful geometric shapes that we’re going to put back there.”

McGinn encourages anyone who wants to volunteer for the summer time project to contact the Welcome Center at 515-386-2155. Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community was one of 132 communities in Iowa that received the Paint Iowa Beautiful grant.
