The second outdoor track & field meet of the season was the second in four days for Coach Derek Merk’s Greene County Rams. The site was Audubon on Thursday for the a non-scoring Early Bird Meet.

The Rams won one event in the 16 team field, placed second in another and had two third place finishes. The team totaled six top six finishes. Sophomore Olivia Shannon placed first in the 200 meter dash in 28.50 seconds. The race was run into the wind and Shannon turned in a personal best time despite the wind and temperatures in the low 40’s.

Senior Brianna Osterson was second in the long jump at 15 feet, 11 inches. The 4 x 100  meter relay of Shannon, senior Annie Twillie, senior Makala Kafer, and Osterson, placed third in 55.11 seconds, and senior Brooklynn Olson was third in the shot put at 37′ 1″.

Coach Merk commended several athletes for having personal best or season best performances, and others for doing what they could to help the team, and that list included Twillie. “We had to find someone to fill in for one of the legs in the 4 x 100 and she did a great job helping the relay secure a third place finish.”

Next up for the Rams is the Kip Janvrin Panorama Coed Relays in Panora on April 6.
