Greene County Public Health is preparing for its first ever community COVID-19 vaccine clinic tomorrow at Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson.

Director Becky Wolf says they were able to obtain 1,170 doses of the Pfizer vaccine from the federal stock with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She points out that they have expanded those who qualify to receive a vaccine to include those 16 and older, regardless if you have an underlying condition. People can still sign up via a link online, which can be found below, and the clinic will be appointment only and no walks-in will be taken. Wolf points out for those who have an appointment to make sure to wear a mask while inside the casino, wear a short-sleeved shirt and bring insurance. While the vaccine itself is free, Wolf explains why those who have insurance can bring that with them to the clinic.

“We are able to bill the insurance company the administration fee, which really isn’t much, but it does help to offset the cost of nursing staff for giving the shots and recording everything.”

Wolf says if you don’t have insurance, you will not be turned away. She adds, once the shot is done, you are to wait 15 minutes to check for any immediate reactions before being allowed to leave. The clinic is from 12:30-6:30pm tomorrow. Listen tomorrow morning for a COVID-19 update with Wolf ahead of tomorrow’s clinic.

A complete list of those that qualify for the vaccine at this time can be found below.
