Today marks the first track & field meet of the 2021 outdoor season for the Greene County Rams. It’s the annual Early Bird Meet at Linduska Field in Jefferson with eight girls’ teams and eight teams of boys. Greene County, Manson-Northwest Webster, North Polk, Ogden, Fr. Dodge St. Edmond, South Hamilton, and Southeast Valley, all have girls and boys teams in the field. The boys from Algona and the girls from Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center will also be competing.

There is no team scoring at this meet. In addition to varsity competitors, teams are allowed JV entries as well, so most events will have multiple heats. Coaching staffs will get an opportunity to see their athletes compete in a meet without worrying about scoring team points.

This meet also has traveling trophies for varsity relays that place first. Today’s meet is also the first with a new Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) system at Linduska Field. The starting time for today’s meet is 4:30 p.m.
