After COVID-19 cancelled the high school Spring sports seasons in Iowa last year, athletes, coaches, and fans, are eager to get underway in 2021. Greene County boys’ soccer is among the teams that thought a very special season could have taken place in 2020 had the season been held. The Rams were Class 1A State qualifiers in 2019 and returned the leading scorer in the state, the goalie, and other high level players. It wasn’t to be, and head coach Carl Behne said despite some significant graduation losses, the 2021 Rams could be good again.

“Playing this year gives us a sense that we are getting back to some sense of normal, and I think that’s a big thing. For a lot of the guys, the seniors especially, and the juniors, they know they missed out on something pretty special last year, so they’re just wanting to come back and prove something this year.”

The Rams scrimmage in Panora on the Panorama all-weather surface this Saturday before opening the regular season in Perry on Saturday, April 3 vs. the Blue Jays and Des Moines North.
