
The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday in regular session.
The meeting started with recognition of Jefferson Assistant Fire Chief Dean Promes on his retirement from the fire department and his 22 years of service. The Council then approved Ben Campbell and Bryce Hoyle as firefighters.
The Council then approved an amendment to the lease agreement with Heartland Bank at 200 East State Street to extend their lease agreement until June 30, 2022 in case construction of their new facility in the Greene County Development Corporation west business park takes longer than expected. They also approved a purchase agreement with Piper Sandler and Company for $5.2 million for general obligation corporate purpose and refunding bonds, and taxable general obligation urban renewal bonds, with an average interest rate of 1.95-percent.
Next, the Council approved selling 709 West Lincoln Way for $250 to the adjacent landowner Eldon and Peggy Cunningham, following a public hearing. Another public hearing was held for selling 205 North Wilson Avenue. Following the hearing, the Council approved the sale with a purchase price of $93,000 to Meghan VonBehren of Funky Zebra, along with an economic development agreement with a $57,000 forgivable loan over ten years. The final public hearing was on the plans and specifications for three alleyway resurfacing projects, which the Council approved.
The final items of the proposed property tax levy and the 2022 fiscal year budget were tabled, due to miscommunication of public hearing date requirements.
