New Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator A.J. Seely
With winter weather drifting away and warmer temperatures on the horizon, it’s time to bush up on severe weather terminology.
Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator A.J. Seely explains the difference between a watch and a warning. He says a watch is over a larger area and that conditions could lend themselves to severe weather, whereas a warning is more targeted to the area experiencing the event.
“Really, for the public a watch means that you should have enhanced awareness and be monitoring the weather on a more frequent basis especially if you are going to be out and about and then a warning means that you should be taking action.”
Seely tells Raccoon Valley Radio people should respond accordingly to the weather at hand whether it be a watch or a warning.
The Raccoon Valley Radio Network Severe Weather Action Team also provides live coverage whenever there is severe weather in Dallas, Greene and Guthrie counties. Live coverage continues until severe weather moves out of the area or drops below severe levels.
