The Guthrie County Relay for Life has slated its kick-off fundraiser for tomorrow.

Co-Chair Becky Secoy encourages everyone to join them for the annual Kiss the Blarney Stone 9-Pin Handicap Individual Tournament. The event will take place at Incredibowl and Secoy points out the changes that were made with safety precautions against COVID-19.

“So this year there will be temperature checks when everybody enters the building and then we are encouraging facemasks. And then during the bowling we are going to do our best to keep everyone spread out during the tournament.”

Entry fee is $25 per person and there will be four group times to bowl, including noon, 3pm, 6pm and 9pm. Secoy notes that there will be cash prizes for the top three finishers, along with door prizes and a 50/50 cash raffle where tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Secoy feels comfortable having this kind of event after discussions with the Guthrie County Public Health Department and the bowling alley.

“The bowling alley has been able to have tournaments there successfully this year. So in discussion with the way that they have done things for their bowling tournament this year, and things that we could do for this tournament we felt like they have a pretty good setup, and we could accommodate all of the public health requirements or suggestions for this year. So we feel like we’re able to move forward for this year.”

Secoy adds they will take walk-ins, but pre-registrations is appreciated by calling 641-332-2352. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
