Before the alleyway was resurfaced
The City of Jefferson is looking to rehab a few alleyways this year.
The City Council approved a resolution for plans and specifications to resurface the alleys between South Chestnut Street and Wilson Avenue, as well as the alley between Wilson Avenue and Vine Street, adjacent to Companion Veterinary Clinic and the same alley adjacent to the Jefferson Post Office. City Administrator Mike Palmer gives the details of the project.
“It’s about two blocks worth of alleys. It’s a pretty good indication (that) the (city) engineer came back and the estimated cost for this project is actually lower than this preliminary opinion. We’re down to about $125,000 is what the estimate is for this project, which is pretty good for what this will do for the useability.”
Palmer adds payment for this project will be from Local Option Sales and Services Tax (LOSST), which is the one-cent tax on all retail sales that the City receives on an annual basis. The City Council scheduled the public hearing on this project for its next regular meeting on March 23rd at 5:30pm, with bids to be received for the project by March 31st if the Council approves the project following the public hearing.
