Practice is underway for the high school soccer seasons. After no Iowa high school spring sports were held in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Greene County boys are looking forward to the upcoming season. The Rams would have been regarded as one of Class 1A’s top teams a season ago after qualifying for the 2019 State Tournament and having a number of top players returning.

Turning the page to this year, head coach Carl Behne still feels the Rams will be a team to contend with, despite significant graduation losses. The Rams remain in Class 1A, the smallest of the three classes for high school boys’ soccer in Iowa with a combined Greene County and Paton-Churdan BEDS enrollment of 313 for classification purposes. Solon has the largest 1A enrollment at 346 and Center Point-Urbana has the lowest 2A enrollment at 348.

The Greene County boys have nine home dates in Grand Junction on the schedule with just five on the road. The regular season is scheduled to begin on Saturday, April 3 in Perry vs. the Blue Jays and Des Moines North.
