With lawmakers in the Iowa Capitol busy with legislation on a wide variety of topics, some bills are receiving bipartisan support.
House Representative for District 19 Carter Nordman says during the first funnel week roughly 67 bills were passed by the full House. He adds that many of these bills reached across the political aisle.
“What a lot of people don’t know is that 93-percent of the bills moved in the Iowa Legislature are actually bipartisan. So, we hear a lot of this party line vote talk but in reality the vast majority of our voting is actually in (a) bipartisan manner.”
Nordman says a majority of the bills are passed without much controversy, and moving forward Nordman tells Raccoon Valley Radio he hopes for that to continue.
“We are going to work through those and make sure we are doing what’s best for Iowans.”
Nordman notes of the 67 bills passed through the House, 57 of them were unanimous.
