At the Greene County Community School District Board of Education meeting last week, Tori Ogden was approved as girls’ head basketball coach. She’s been a Teacher Assistant and assistant coach in basketball and volleyball the past five years in the Southeast Warren (Liberty Center) district, and this will be her first head coaching job. The Fairfield, IA, graduate has a degree in Athletic Training from Truman State U. in Kirksville, Mo. She played volleyball, basketball, golf, and softball, while in high school.

Maintaining a consistent youth girls’ basketball program here hasn’t been easy, and the coach talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about the subject. “That actually came up during the interview. I would love to have some camps this summer, getting kids around the game, and then them being able to take it further. I hope there are people that will step up as Youth coaches, and if that’s something I may have to take on, I’m open to that as well.”

Todd Gordon was the head coach this past season. The Activities Director for the Greene County School District, Gordon accepted the position last summer on a one-year basis until another coach was hired. He told Raccoon Valley Radio he enjoyed coaching basketball again after several years away from it, but added his duties as A.D. prevent him from coaching long term.
