
A Somers woman was recently sentenced to probation for a drug incident in Jefferson.
According to court documents, 53-year-old Julie Wells pled guilty to a Class D Felony for third or subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance and a serious misdemeanor for unlawful possession of prescription medication. She had a five year and one year prison sentences respectively suspended for the felony and misdemeanor charges and placed on probation for three and one years, respectively.
The charges stemmed from a February 15, 2020 incident. A Jefferson Police Officer conducted a traffic stop of Wells’ vehicle for not having license plates. The officer saw Wells stuffing items under the driver’s seat and a probable cause search was conducted and the drug items were recovered.
Wells was ordered to pay over $300 in fines and surcharges, and per her plea agreement, the additional charges of two Class D Felonies for third or subsequent offense of possession of a controlled substance and a serious misdemeanor for unlawful possession of prescription medication were dismissed.
