Greene County girls’ head track & field coach Derek Merk told Raccoon Valley Radio he’s pleased with the start of the season. The Rams began practice on March 1 and took six events to the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls for the A.D. Dickinson Relays. “So far, things are going well. The girls are getting along and they’re working hard. We saw some good things inside the UNI-Dome in that indoor meet and we’re optimistic about the upcoming season.”
The coach said numbers are up. “We’re in the mid 20’s right now and I believe we had 17 last season (which was cancelled by COVID-19 concerns). We’d like to have a few more, but we’re happy with where we’re at and should be able to fill most of the 19 events.”
The Rams are scheduled to open the outdoor season in Jefferson at Linduska Field for the Greene County Early Bird Coed Meet.
