The Perry High School Mock Trial team recently competed in the Iowa State Bar Association Mock Trial contest and won multiple awards.

Perry’s team represented the plaintiff in the first round against the defense, which was represented by Des Moines Roosevelt High School. The second round had Shenandoah as the plaintiff and Perry was the defense attorney. The Bluejays were 1-1 on the day. 

The team earned multiple award nominations with Dalton Scott (witness) for outstanding defense witness nomination, Kaylee Weubker (attorney) outstanding defense attorney nomination, Sophia McDevitt (attorney/witness) outstanding defense attorney nomination and Riley Sergent (attorney/witness) outstanding defense witness nomination based on judges ratings. 

The teams were awarded performance points based on their ability to show the roles of attorneys and witnesses and were judged by actual judges, attorneys and law students. The Perry High School team is advised by AnneMarie McDevitt, Darcy Spellman and Tom Lipovac.
