Since the coronavirus pandemic began last year long-term care facilities as well as nursing homes have had to suspend in-person visits to protect their residents, but now Perry Lutheran Homes is allowing people to visit loved ones again.
Director of Marketing for Perry Lutheran Homes Mollie Clark says since the beginning of the pandemic they have followed federal and state guidelines, which meant residents couldn’t have visitors, not even family members which has been hard.
“We have one gentleman who pretty much this whole time, daily, put his chair out in front of his loved ones window and they talked over the phone and through the window you know almost daily. He was able to visit his loved one and you know it’s just stuff like that, that makes you so happy.”
Now Perry Lutheran Homes is able to open again as the average positivity rate for Dallas County has dipped below 10-percent. As long as those numbers stay that way visitors will be able to come in and see loved ones at the facility but social distancing will still be in place.
“Don’t be afraid to call and schedule a visit and just kinda see where that goes. Our activity gals for each one of our campus(es) are really in tune with the residents and kinda what their schedules have been like and their visitors.”
Clark says visits have to be scheduled in advance so a staff member can be present to monitor the visit to ensure masks are worn and other guidelines are followed. Also, Clark says visitors will be screened upon coming inside the facility, and designated areas for family visits among other guidelines.
