The Iowa Finance Authority recently announced the ability to do an eligibility precheck for the Iowa Rent and Utility Assistance Program which will soon be taking applications.

Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area residents who have been impacted by COVID-19 could receive assistance through the program that would offer assistance in paying for rent and utility costs for up to 12 months. Some of the services through the program include, rent assistance for past for future payments and utility payments owed at the time of application, but not future payments. These funds will be paid directly to landlords and service utility providers.

The precheck allows for interested people to see if they meet the eligibility criteria and then sign up to receive a notification when the applications are available which will be later this month. The $195 million program is funded through the Federal Emergency Rental Assistance Program.
