The Guthrie Center Volunteer Fire Department spent nearly three hours battling a barn fire south of the city Thursday.

Firefighters were dispatched at 4:18 p.m. to the scene at 2399 Noah Avenue.

According to Fire Chief Tom Langgard, there were no injuries on the scene and the best guess to the cause of the fire was an electrical issue. The building was a total loss. Investigations are ongoing as to the cause.

Panora EMS and the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
