The Raccoon Valley Radio listening area experienced a cold and snowy February.

According to the National Weather Service, Jefferson received 14.9-inches of snowfall last month, more than doubling the average snowfall total of 7.4-inches. Guthrie Center recorded 14.8-inches of snowfall, almost triple the average amount of 5.4-inches of snowfall for February. Perry saw 12.9-inches of snowfall, more than double its normal average of 5.1-inches.

Each community also had the same record high and low temperatures on the same dates in February. Jefferson, Guthrie Center and Perry each recorded a record high on the last day of the month, February 28th, with Jefferson at 50-degrees, and Guthrie Center and Perry at 52-degrees. There were two record low temperatures set on February 16th and 17th, with Jefferson and Perry each at 22 below zero degrees and Guthrie Center was at 31 degrees below zero.
