The Greene County High School is hosting the spring musical later this week.
“Beauty and the Beast” will be held in the new auditorium this weekend. For high school senior and playing the lead role of Beast, Avery Bardole is excited to perform in the new facility.
“It’s my last one and now better way to come and leave with a bang. We’ve got a lot more space and there would’ve been a lot of things with the set we have now that we wouldn’t have been able to do at our other school. It’s just really given us the opportunity to work in more space and fill more space with all our voice, and bring in more people.”
Senior Josey Weaver plays the wardrobe and senior Madison Hall, who is playing Babette, are also choreographing some of the dance scenes and other behind-the-scenes responsibilities. Weaver talks about those kinds of challenges.
“Well I’ve never done any of that before. So we’ve taken a lot of inspiration from other (like) how they did it on Broadway, how they’ve done it in regional shows, and everything like that. And try to piece together what we can do with their set and our set, and how those work together. And what we can teach, and what is easy for people to learn, and pick up pretty well, and how that will work with the music. So it’s a lot of moving pieces that kind of just have to fit together.”
Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7pm and a Sunday manatee at 2pm. Audience members are reminded to wear a mask inside the auditorium and practice social distancing between groups. There will also be food served at intermission, with individually packaged meals by the National Honor Society. A link to the online ticketing format can be found below.
