The suspect involved in the alleged bank robbery in Scranton has been arrested.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, at about 10:30am Saturday morning, 27-year-old Zachary Michael Anderson Wailes of Fort Dodge was arrested and charged with a Class B Felony for first degree robbery and a Class C Felony for first degree theft. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the FBI, Gaming Enforcement, Carroll and Calhoun County Sheriff’s Offices; and Carroll, Lake City, Boone and Ames Police Departments and.
Wailes was identified as the suspect that entered Peoples Bank in Scranton at 10:37am Thursday. Wailes entered the bank, with an alleged handgun in the pocket of his hooded sweatshirt and fled in a vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash. Sheriff Jack Williams says no one was hurt from the incident.
Peoples Bank President and COO John Rigler III tells Raccoon Valley Radio he is happy no one was hurt and is proud of the staff that followed their protocols and handled the situation professionally.
