The most wins in over a decade and a 16-6 final season record is where the Paton-Churdan girls’ basketball ended the 2020-21 season. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team averaged 52.40 points per game and went 11-3 in Rolling Valley Activities Conference play, trailing only league champion and top 10 rated Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton.
Danielle Hoyle is one of the top scorers in Class 1A. She averaged 23.13 points on 70.3% shooting. Hoyle was 215-306 from the field and 76-119 from the free throw line (63.9%). She averaged 11.18 rebounds per game and the 6′ 3″ senior averaged 3.86 blocked shots per contest. She was third on the team in assists with 50 and her 29 steals tied her for third among the Rockets.
Senior Tessa Steimel had 7.2 points per game with senior Chloe Berns at 7.1 and junior Carmyn Paup at 6.3. Junior Hannah Behrens was at 4.5 points per game, followed by sophomore Emma Stream 2.6, senior Karissa Stephenson 1.8, and .5 for both senior Hannah Bundt and freshman Hailey Hoyle.
The P-C team shot 42.2% from the floor, 28.7% from three-point range, and 62.4% from the free throw line. The Rockets averaged 19.68 turnovers per contest.
