Voters in the Panorama School District will decide on March 2 whether or not to continue the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) that’s been in place for the last decade.
School Superintendent Shawn Holloway says the district has several projects in its five-year plan that will be funded through PPEL.
“We have bathroom remodels on our five-year project list, elementary playground equipment, LED lighting in both the elementary and secondary buildings, replacing and repairing concrete. We have 40 sections of roof between the two different buildings, so roof replacement. A new HVAC unit. We can continue keeping our buses up to date and vehicle purchases, retrofitting our buses with seat belts, updated safety lighting in the parking lot and updating staff and student technology.”
Holloway emphasized that the vote isn’t on expanding the levy or increasing taxes on the district’s community members, but a continuation. Past projects funded through PPEL include remodeling the high school media center, bleachers at the baseball and softball fields as well as safety improvements like interior and exterior security cameras in the buildings.
