10:10am: A Jefferson resident reported falling victim to a Social Media Scam. The subject had met and conversed for a period of time with a subject on Social Media. Personal photos had been exchanged between the two parties. Now the other party is threatening to make the photos public if a large sum of money is not sent. This is not uncommon, as several reports like this surface yearly at the PD. Residents should always be careful when starting chats with unknown people on the web.

10:30am: Officers were assisted by deputies in the execution of a Narcotic Search Warrant at 501 South Chestnut Street. Suspected Black Tar Heroin, Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia were seized from the residence for lab testing. Charges are pending lab results.

1:26pm: Floyd Laxson requested an officer in the 100 Block of East Lincoln Way Street for a reported dispute with his wife. The officer met with the parties and determined it was a Civil Issue occurring between the married couple. The officer assisted in mediating the issue.

2:07pm: Linda Connor reported a Burglary, which had occurred at 607 South Wilson Ave. An estimated $200.00 in property had been removed from the residence. The officer is investigating.

******* An officer has completed an investigation that began on a Traffic Stop on 12/26/2020. A female driver provided the officer with a False Identity and was issued a Citation for, “Excessive Speed.” A female subject contacted the PD after learning her driver’s license had been Suspended for not paying the citation. She advised it was not her that received the citation and suspected her cousin had provided the officer her personal information on the stop. The investigation led to requested Arrest Warrants d-for the driver and passenger present during the Traffic Stop. The requested warrants are for Cheyenne L. Johnson, 20 of Marshalltown for, “Identity Theft – Aggravated, Forgery – Aggravated, Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability – Simple, Driving While Barred – Aggravated, Providing False Information to Officer – Simple, and Excessive Speed – Simple. The passenger and vehicle owner, Makayla Mai Neave, 23 of Liscomb has warrants for, “Fraudulent Use of Registration – Simple, and Permitting Unauthorized Person to Drive – Simple.”
