Grant Caltrider was one of the senior leaders of the West Central Valley boys’ basketball team this season.
He was second on the team, scoring 7.7 points per game for the Wildcats on the year, but the thing that impressed head coach Dave Brumley most was his ability to rebound from injury to help lead his team.
“He always has had knee problems. He had surgery last season to get his knees fixed, so he really didn’t come into his own and play a lot of minutes until halfway through last season when he finally got doctor’s clearance”
Caltrider’s best performance of the year was a 23-point effort in the team’s 76-75 double-overtime home victory over Southeast Warren. The senior connected on three straight buckets to begin the game and pushed the game to overtime with three fourth-quarter three-pointers.
“He’s probably the best shooter on the team. I think in the first half against Southeast Warren, it exemplified that when he hit like seven threes in a row and just pretty much kept us in that game.”
Caltrider is one of five seniors graduating out of the program this year.
