A couple of weeks removed from the large group speech season is now the individual speech portion of the year.
The Iowa High School Speech Association District Individual Contest is from February 22nd-March 3rd. Greene County High School Speech Coach Kelley Gray says 12 students will be performing with 15 entries at Perry High School this Saturday as part of a “mini-contest.” Those students competing in two events include Josey Weaver, Eliot Schilling and Maddie Truitt.
Paton-Churdan Speech Coach Kellie Henderson says two students are competing in four categories, including Autumn Consier with expository address and musical theater, and Abby Duckett with expository address and original oratory. Henderson notes that they will have their district contest on March 2nd and will bring in a hire judge.
