ADM Tiger wrestlers Ben Smith and Jake Alexander were able to take the mat on Thursday night for 2A state wrestling action, and they were competitive in their matches.
Smith was unable to get a victory in his opening match over Tristan Hardcastle of Creston, losing via a fall at 4:59. It was a low scoring affair in the match, but Hardcastle made a nice move to secure the victory. In his consolation round, he couldn’t find any success against Jackson Jaspers, falling by the score of 13-5. Smith’s season concludes with a 33-9 record.
Alexander had a tough first round matchup against Vincent Mayberry of Glenwood, and was unable to take the victory losing in a fall at 3:16. Mayberry controlled the matchup and though Alexander was able to pick up points in escapes, Mayberry used good moves to take the victory. He then took on Jayden Gargano of Humboldt and couldn’t get the victory in the consolation round. The sophomore finished his solid season with a 22-12 record.
