The West Central Valley School Board adjusted the current academic calendar to reduce snow day impacts on the end of the year during its regular meeting Wednesday.
The Board changed the April 12th professional development day for teachers to a full in-student attendance day, while changing March 19th to a virtual professional development day for teachers. Additionally, the Board moved its regular March meeting from the 17th to the 10th to accommodate for spring break. Finally, they scheduled a special budget meeting for April 7th because budgets are due by April 15, before the Board’s regular meeting April 21st.
In other business, financial and director reports were reviewed. The board approved personnel changes, open enrollment of four students into the district and six students out and approved a three-year contract for grounds maintenance bids from both Schwinger Lawn Service in Stuart and Short’s Lawn Care in Redfield.
The Board also discussed the difficulties with virtual learning days at the elementary levels with sending equipment home with the students versus keeping it in the buildings. Finally, the public was invited to comment on the 2021-22 Academic Calendar, but it will not be approved until March.
