The adoptive brother who was convicted for his role in the death of a Perry girl, has been transitioned to a work release program.
According to the Iowa Board of Parole, 25-year-old Justin Dale Ray was taken from his ten-year prison sentence and placed on a work release program. He was sentenced to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to two Class D Felonies for willful injury causing bodily injury. The felony charges are from when he admitted in court to kicking his then 16-year-old adopted sister Sabrina Ray down a flight of stairs and kicking her in the face in the months leading up to her death, when authorities found her in Marc and Misty Ray’s home in May of 2017. He was sentenced to prison in 2018.
Authorities said Sabrina starved to death and was abused before she died.
Misty was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole, after she was found guilty of first degree kidnapping and two counts of third degree kidnapping. Marc was sentenced to 80 years in prison with parole eligibility after 35 years, after he was found guilty of child endangerment resulting in death and three counts of third degree kidnapping.
