Class 3A wrestlers are on on the eight mats at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines for the opening round of the largest of Iowa’s three wrestling classes. Waukee, the third place team in Wednesday’s Dual Meet State Tournament, has 12 of the 14 weight classes in action today. Dallas Center-Grimes has a trio of competitors. A first round win means a trip to Friday’s quarterfinals, while a first round loss sends that wrestler to the consolation first round this afternoon, and two losses today means the tournament is over for those going 0-2.
