A couple from Fort Dodge were arrested for alleged burglary in Greene County.
According to court documents, an off-duty deputy saw a vehicle parked across the street from a residence in the 100 block of 185th Street in Scranton at 5:57pm Monday. The deputy noticed footprints in the snow leading up to the door of the home. After calling for assistance, the deputy saw that the vehicle left the location, but then saw fresh footprints from the road to another residence in the 200 block of 185th Street.
Court documents show that the deputy located the vehicle on 185th Street east of A Avenue, where a traffic stop was conducted. The deputy asked the driver, 35-year-old Todd Grimsman of Fort Dodge why he and his passenger, 46-year-old Amy Taylor, why they were at the first residence. Grimsman claimed they were trying to fix their vehicle’s fender and were looking for a metal bar for the repair.
Grimsman and Taylor gave consent for a vehicle search. The deputy found a poster, a milking bucket, a chrome spotlight and a wooden disc and iron. Taylor said the poster was hers and she took the wooden disc but couldn’t remember from where. Grimsman admitted to taking the bucket from one of the residences and the other items belonged to him. Taylor also claimed the vehicle was damaged about one week ago.
During the investigation, the other deputy found footprints in the snow at the residence in the 200 block of 185th Street. The footprints went around to all of the buildings on the property, including some prints that were found inside one of the buildings. Two sets of footprints were also found from the vehicle to the south door of the residence in the 100 block of 185th Street. Additional footprints were found inside the home.
Grimsman and Taylor were both arrested and charged with two counts of Class D Felonies for third-degree burglary. Both suspects were booked and released under their own recognizance from the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
