The Guthrie County Department of Public Health puts a lot of pride and effort in ensuring no doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are wasted.

Last week, Director Jotham Arber and his team had different circumstances line up to leave the department with six doses at the end of their most recent vaccination clinic. But, he says they were willing to put in the extra time to get those administered.

“We stayed here at the Health Department until just a little after 7 p.m. We had some people who had to cancel, and we drew up extra doses which is always fantastic except for when you’re trying to find those people. But, we have the list, so what we start doing is we go to the next group of people, if they can make it in this week, fantastic, we get the shots in their arms. If they can’t make it in this week, they’re still slotted for the next week. We keep that appointment. So, we just kind of work our way down until we find everyone that we can that needs a shot.”
