As the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact Iowa schools, the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District is continuing to manage the virus through prevention protocols.
Superintendent Greg Dufoe says one positive note with Governor Kim Reynolds’ recent change to require schools to offer a 100-percent in-person learning option is that ADM was already doing that to begin the school year.
“We have been fully on-site since August 24th. Of course that includes the remote option for parents to choose that for their students, but we haven’t been in hybrid nor have we had a fully remote situation at any building or district level. So, you know we are really proud of that.”
Dufoe says the District has done a good job managing a situation such as a global pandemic. While of course some students and staff have either contracted COVID-19 or been quarantined, Dufoe says the numbers are small.
“I’m not sure it could be going better and I say that in all seriousness around a serious and difficult set of circumstances but it’s going very, very well.”
Governor Reynolds recently signed into law the requirement for all school districts to offer a 100-percent in-person learning option by February 15th.
