The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors tabled setting a public hearing date for the maximum tax levies for fiscal year 2022 at its Tuesday meeting.
The Supervisors and County Auditor Dani Fink pitched March 4 as a possible date for the hearing, but they decided to wait to finalize that hearing until they see the remaining budget proposals.
In other business, the County assigned a tax sale certificate for a Guthrie Center property on 1st Street to Dan Royer. County Treasurer Marci Schreck told the Supervisors that the property was sold to an investor in a tax sale seven years ago and the individual has not done anything with it, accruing around $20,000 in property taxes and fees from the city. Royer left the meeting to seek more information, prompting the Supervisors to table the motion. He returned later and agreed to pay the county-owed taxes of $689 for the certificate.
Next, the Supervisors set a public hearing date of March 4 at 9 a.m. concerning a sale of two county-owned properties at Diamondhead Lake.
Finally, the Board entered a closed session to discuss strategies concerning the ongoing state lawsuit for the opioid litigation. Afterward, the Supervisors made no changes to their current strategies.
