The city of Stuart has a new place to get your morning coffee.
Dan and Angie Capps officially opened The Cup on 2nd Saturday, and the Stuart Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the business Friday afternoon. She said she’s very excited about the official opening and appreciates the support she’s received from other local business owners.
“I think it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and it was a someday thing. With COVID and all of the unexpected changes in our life, the realization came that we shouldn’t wait. Things sometimes change and are out of your control, so I just literally said one day ‘why don’t we turn the building into a coffee shop?’ We started in August and here we are ready to open.”
She was especially appreciative of the City Council accepting her proposal to turn the alleyway next to the business into a one-way to make the drive-up window more accessible.
“It’s a huge component of our business plan to have the drive-through. We have a lot of commuters. It wasn’t make it or break it, but it was great that they agreed to that. And from that moment on, all we’ve had is support. We turned an office building into a restaurant.”
She plans to have a regular menu of drinks and made-to-order breakfast items available like sandwiches and specialty toasts. The business will also offer different daily specialty drinks, and Capps hopes that they will expand to a lunch menu as well. For more information, visit the Cup on 2nd on Facebook.
