It’s time for the postseason to begin for the Greene County wrestling team. Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams have had “fits and starts” in a season interrupted by COVID-19 concerns and the weather. Despite missing some time, the coach told Raccoon Valley Radio his team is ready and they’re really looking forward to the opportunity.
The Rams will be facing the host team from Woodward-Granger, ADM, Perry, Van Meter/Earlham, and Gilbert. Wrestling starts today at 12 p.m. and all first and second place finishers advance to the 2A District in Adel on Feb. 13.
Greene County had just one wrestling meet at home this season, and that was the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference tournament, so the wrestlers did not get a Senior Night. Seniors Isaac Louk, Clay Peters, Brady Stauffer, and Sawyer Schiltz, plus senior wrestling cheerleaders, were recognized last night in between basketball games in Jefferson vs. Nevada.
