The ongoing drought in west central Iowa shifted slightly east and covers more of the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.

According to the United States Drought Monitor, the majority of Greene County is in moderate drought, and the southeast corner is abnormally dry. The northwest portion of Dallas County is abnormally dry, while the rest of the county is not under a drought. The southwest corner of Guthrie County is in severe drought, the remaining part of the western half is moderate drought and the eastern half is abnormally dry.

The National Weather Service reports that Perry accumulated 2.7 inches of new snow this past week, amounting to .05 inches of precipitation. Guthrie Center has received 2.5 inches of new snow this week for minimal precipitation. No official measurement was available for Jefferson.
