Greene County High School will host its first event in the new auditorium this Monday.
Choir Director David Heupel tells Raccoon Valley Radio they are hosting five other schools for the Iowa High School Music Association State Jazz Choir Festival, including Lawton-Bronson, Carroll Kuepmer, Alonga, Saydel and Maple Valley-Anthon Oto. The first performance will be at 5pm and Greene County’s Jazzatonics are scheduled to perform at 6:40.
Heupel says this will be the Jazzatonic’s first performance of the year and they are allowing spectators to watch. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, every other row will be taped off, masks will be required, along with social distancing between groups. Heupel notes that each school will compete against a rating system and the groups will receive feedback from judges following their performance.
The Jazzatonics will perform two songs, including “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” by Kirby Shaw and “Mas Que Nada” by Rosana Eckert.
